Located in the central part of the state of Arizona and a city in Maricopa County, Avondale was the original station of the Southern Pacific Railroad which is situated about 20 miles west of Phoenix. The city sits near the Gila River that is in the Salt River that is on the edge of the Sonoran Desert. In the early part of the 20th century, the city’s economy has grown and has started to embrace the small business district that is being surrounded by dairy and citrus farms, which also includes numbers of residential developments and sprawling industrial parks that are situated along the Phoenix International Raceway. The early 21st century was the city’s tremendous population growth just like with the rest of the nearby communities in Arizona, in particular in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
