Encinitas is located in the southern part of the state of California and a beach city in North County. The city is situated on a rugged coastal terrace and is bisected by a low-lying coastal ridge wherein it separates the New and Old Encinitas. The northern part of the city is where the coasts rise on its elevation, and the land has been raised in the form of a number of coastal bluffs. The city is home to a number of beautiful beaches in the stated and has been famous for its surfing weather and conditions. The surfers from all over the country will gather every year to compete in a local surfing tournament. The San Elijo Lagoon Reserve is a large coastal wetland in the county and is home to more than 300 different bird species. It is also the home to the San Diego Botanical Gardens, which can be considered to be the Amazon Rainforest’s competition.
