Located in the state of California and a city in San Bernardino County, Hesperia is situated in the north of downtown San Bernardino at the Victor Valley in the Mojave desert. Because of the city’s high elevation and its moderate and unique weather, the city came to be known as High Desert. Hesperia means “Western Land.” The area where the present Hesperia is located was laid out in 1891 by the railroad company land developers. The city’s railroad land developers created and published pamphlets that were distributed across the county to boost the city to become California’s potential metropolis. When the inns and golf courses were built, it attracted various Hollywood celebrities. When the main wave of newcomers to the city arrived, the city’s suburban growth developed and transformed the small town with the rise of its population.
