Highland is located in the state of California and a city in San Bernardino County, and the city's name was referred to as the geographical location of the town in the county. Highland was divided into two regions, namely the East Highland and Highland, which is generally on the western part of State Route 210 and the majority of its residents live in the eastern part of the freeway. The area where the present-day Highland was inhabited by the Chumash who lived in the region for 10,000 years before they moved to go north when the Tongva tribe arrived coming from the South. The area's landscape was dominantly covered by hills and grasslands for thousands of years wherein it is covered with wild grapes, sycamore, clematis, California live oak, and among others that are native to the area.
