Manteca, California Houses for Sale

Located in the Central Valley of the state of California and is on the eastern side of the city of San Francisco. The area was founded and houses were built on what is now the corner of Main and Yosemite, where the Bank of America presently stands. The Central Pacific Railroad had laid its track through the area, and the residents would often refer to the new train station as “Cowel Station, however, there is already a Cowell Station near Tracy. Thus, the residents agreed to change the name of the community and had agreed that it will now be Monteca. The name was misprinted as Manteca, or lard, in Spanish by the railroad and the version that was misspelled was eventually accepted as the name of the town.
