Mission Viejo’s name is a reference to the Rancho Mission Viejo, which was a huge Spanish land grant which the community was mainly founded. The city was considered to be the United States’ biggest master-planned communities under a single project which was then highly rivaled by the Highlands Ranch in the state of Colorado. Mission Viejo can be characterized as suburban with its nature and culture. The city is majorly consisted of various residential properties, with several businesses and offices that are within the city’s area. With the city’s tree-lined neighborhoods, they have been recognized by the National Arbor Foundation.
