Located in the northeast part of Los Angeles' downtown area and was set at the base of the towering San Gabriel Mountains and has been best known for its Tournament of Roses Parade and the Rose Bowl football match. The Old Pasadena was a dining and shopping district and has been popular because of its art deco and Victorian buildings and structures. The city's world-class museum has made the city an architectural gem. The Santa Fe Railway and the freeway construction subsequently made Pasadena's growth as a winter resort and a citrus center because of the easy commuting distance to Los Angeles. Pasadena is also a center of scientific research and light manufacturing with the presence of Caltech University. The city has found a lot of ways to ensure that it fills your half or full-day break from the hustle and bustle of the big cities.
