Pico Rivera is located in the state of California and is in the southeastern part of Los Angeles County, and is in the southeast part of downtown Los Angeles. The Long Beach and Los Angeles ports are within proximity to the city. The area where the present-day Pico Rivera stands is a merger of two unincorporated communities of Pico and Rivera. The region stands on a fertile alluvial plain that is in between Rio Hondo and San Gabriel River, wherein it was once a predominantly agricultural area. At the end of World War II, there was a high demand for homes that lured the settlers and builders to the terrains. At the start of the 1950s, the city became both a residential and agricultural economy.
