Pittsburgh is located in the state of California and a city in Contra Costa County, it is considered to be an industrial suburb. It is found on the south shore of the Suisun Bay along the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area. A New Yorker named Colonel Jonathan D. Stevenson bought the Rancho Los Medanos land grant in 1849 and has then laid out a town that he called New York of the Pacific, however, such a venture has failed. When coal was discovered in the nearby Nortonville, it became a port for coaling and has then adopted the name Black Diamond took after the mining firm who built the Black Diamond Mining Railroad. The present-day name of the city was selected to honor the town in Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, as it was said both cities shared a frequent mining and steel industrial heritage.
