San Bruno is located in the state of California and a city in San Mateo County. The city is situated in between south of San Francisco and Millbrae, and it is also adjacent to the San Francisco International Airport and the Golden Gate Cemetery, which makes it proximate to downtown San Francisco. San Bruno has a land area that is a total of 5.5 square miles, and most of these are all lands. The city lies on flat lowlands near the San Francisco Bay and into the foothills of the nearby Santa Cruz Mountains. The city stands at a total elevation of 600 feet above sea level. There are portions of the area that are very hilly and have been featuring canyons and ravines nearby. The creeks nearby were mostly converted to culverts, at present, and have been flowing from springs in the hills toward the San Francisco Bay. Two events transformed San Bruno, California from a small rural town to the bustling city it is today. The first was the Tanforan horse racing track that led to thousands of military personnel settling in the area. Second was the purchase of Mills Land by George Williams. This led to rapid housing developments and population boom, which now numbers at 41,000 residents. San Bruno is known today as an international city thanks to its proximity to the San Francisco International Airport, which used to be the site for the Mills Land. Aside from the convenient commute and access to global flights, there are a lot of things to do in town for both residents and tourists staying for the weekend or a stopover. Enjoy movies at the park, music performances, shopping, hiking the local trails, and other small festivals. Because of its strategic location and excellent amenities, San Bruno is considered a prime real estate market. Market prices are generally more expensive than similarly-sized cities, but they also provide incredible long-term value to both homeowners and property managers.
