Located in the western part of the state of California and a city in Alameda County, San Leandro sits and forms part of the East Bay metropolitan strip that is characterized by suburban developmentS, waterfront industries, and trading centers. The area was explored by the Spanish in 1770 and was once part of the Mexican land grants. San Leandro started as a horticulture center and was the county seat in 1872. Agriculture center has given way to warehousing and services, and the city still celebrates up to present the annual Cherry Festival.
