Located in the southwestern side of the state of California and the seat of Santa Barbara County, Santa Barbara sits at the base of the Santa Ynez Mountains that is along the Pacific coast that is facing the Santa Barbara Channel. Bordered at the northwest by Los Angeles, it is protected by the Santa Barbara Islands to the south and by the mountains in the north, Santa Barbara’s location made its climate mild throughout the year. With the arrival of the Southern Pacific Railroad, the city was developed and was promoted as a developed economy based on tourism and as a seaside resort, and a part of its economy was based on the production of citrus fruits and cattle and petroleum.
