Tulare sits in the state of California and a city in Tulare County. It sits in the central part of San Joaquin Valet and is named after Tulare Lake, wherein at present it is already dry, which is once the largest freshwater lake west of the Great Lakes. The area was inhabited by the Yokuts people wherein they built reed boats and fished in the water that was later named as Tulare Lake for centuries until they were invaded by the Spanish and American pioneers who then settled in the area by the 1850s. Tulare only existed and was founded by the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1872. After its founding, it was later named after the Tulare Lake.
