Located on the western side of the Mojave Desert and sits in the sub-region of the High Desert of San Bernardino County, the largest county in the US. On the east, Victorville is bordered by the Apple Valley, on the south by Hesperia, and Adelanto on the west side. The southwest part of the city has been defined as geographically dissimilar from the rest of the area in the county as it has been sliced in the center by the chain of a transverse mountain that divides Los Angeles County. Victorville's climate can be regarded as slightly windy as it is relatively near the foothills of a mountain range. There are various outdoor activities that can be done in Victorville, like horseback riding, hiking, picnics, Frisbee, and golf. Victorville is considered to be an oasis in the Mojave Desert for its acres of waterways that provide habitats for a thousand species of wildlife.
