Washington, D.C., cannot be classified as a state either as a city. Instead, it is a territory, where the President and many principal government offices of the United States are seated. It is the center of politics for the United States. It can be deemed as a city with multiple personalities. It can be seen as an international metropolis with beautiful tourist destinations, while on the other hand, it can be seen as a working federal city. It is interesting to know that half of Washington, D.C’s land area is owned by the United States government and pays no taxes. The downtown area is a mix of a workplace and a residential area for a substantial population of the city. The residents included craftspeople, politicians, office workers, and those that are under the hospitality sector. The diversified city remains vibrant and colorful at present. It is rich with a mix of international cultures and considered to be America’s most LGBT-friendly city. They have recognized the same-sex marriage even before the Supreme Court, who ironically sits nearby, ruled for it to be legal in 2015.
