Located in the state of Florida and a city in Palm Beach County, Boynton Beach is the principal city that makes up the Miami metropolitan area. Two years before Henry Morrison Flagler built his railroad, a former American Civil War major named Nathan Boynton first visited the area that now bears his name. The first settlers in the area were the same people that Boynton brought with him from Michigan. They realized that there were numbers of fruits and vegetables that thrived in the area’s fertile climate. They planted tomatoes, pineapples, mangoes, and citrus fruits that were packed in crates and shipped by the ton.
