Jupiter is located in the state of Florida and is in the northernmost town in Palm Beach County. The area where the present-day HJKupiter stands were originally named Hobe Indian, which inhabited the area at the mouth of Loxahatchee River and the name of the city was then preserved in the name of the nearby area Hobe Sound. The name Jobe native people was the result of a misspelling made by a mapmaker who misunderstood the Spanish spelling and recorded it as Jove. The subsequent mapmakers understood this to be after the name of the Roman god Jupiter and they eventually adopted the name to be more familiar. The city's most notable landmark was the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse that was completed in the 1860s.
