Margate is located in the state of Florida and a city in Broward County and is a part of the Miami metropolitan area. Margate was founded in the 12950s, and much of the town is either a part of the Everglades or farmland. When the site was designated as a town in 1955, the development of the land area became prominent because of the arrival of the people who will move in Margate. It was founded in the 1950s and was officially incorporated as a city in 1961. Its name is the portmanteau of the founder’s first three letters of his last name, Jack Marqusee, with the first four letters of gateway since the city was considered as a gateway to the western part of Broward County. The town was initially planned for a population of 35,000, however, at present, Margate has a size that is 50% larger than what was anticipated, and its population is still growing up to the present.
