Palm Bay is located in the east-central part of the state of Florida and Brevard County. Palm Bay is situated in the Indian River, which is a lagoon part of the Intercoastal Waterway, which has already been separated from the Atlantic Ocean by the southern peninsula of the Merritt Island. Palm Bay was first settled by the Tillman and was renamed to its modern-day name. The city's growth and development was stimulated with the establishment and the spread of the aerospace industry that has been associated with John F. Kennedy Space Center and installation of the United States Air Force. High-technology and tourism are the biggest industries in the city, and the area has a good number of retirees.
