Columbus is a consolidated city-county situated in the border of west-central Georgia and bordering the Alabama state line and southwest of Atlanta. The city is one of the cities in the United States that has been critically planned even before it was found. It was established as a trading post, which will be used to strengthen the western part of Georgia further. It has always been part of the Columbus tradition and culture the historical buildings in the central part of the city and which includes the commercial, public, and residential structures of the town. In the early 20th century, Columbus was named as the Fountain City because of the numerous fountains installed all around.
