Downers Grove is founded in the state of Illinois and a village in DuPage County. The area where the present-day Downers Grove stands was founded in 1832 by Pierce Downers and whose name serves as the name of the town. He was a farmer who has been traveling from Illinois to New York. However, he came originally from Vermont. The original settlers of the site were immigrants who came mostly from the northeastern part of the county and northern Europe. The Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroad arrived in the city in the extension from Aurora to Chicago up to Downers Grove in 1864. With the arrival of the railroad, it also signified the boost of the town's population and economy.
