Mount Prospect is located in the state of Illinois and a village in Elk Grove and Wheeling Townships that is in Cook County, and the northwestern part of downtown Chicago. The city has a well-diverse population with an extensive school system. It has a professional and robust base in business—the area where the present-day Mount Prospect stands were inhabited by the Native American tribes. There is not much information as to the specifics of those who inhabited the site. The Potawatomi tribe inhabited the area by the 18th century, and the European and American settlers arrived on the site and settled along with the Native Americans. There was no record of any great trades that were made and recorded during the period. Settlement in the area did not begin after the end of Black Hawk’s War and the treaty with the Potawatomi tribe in 1833.
