Plainfield is located in the state of Illinois and a village in Will and Kendall counties. The villages include the land that is in Will County’s Plainfield and Wheatfield townships and also includes the Na-Au-Say and Oswego townships that are situated in Kendall County. During the growth of the suburbs in Chicago in the 1990s and in the 200s, Plsinfiels also experienced a growth in their population. The population grew from 4,500 in the 19900s to 28,000 by 2000 and has nearly reached 44,000 in 2017. Plainfield is located between the cities of Joliet and Naperville. Plainfield established and developed a community for the Preservation Commission and the historic preservation ordinance. The village was also the home to the Lake Renwick Preserve, a country forest preserve that serves for the birdwatchers and other activities. It’s considered one of the oldest communities in the area now occupied by 39,581 residents. Plainfield can be reached from Chicago O’Hare International Airport and several highways and interstates, making the town an ideal base for businesses. The heart of the area is vibrant Downtown Plainfield, a pedestrian-focused destination for dining, shopping, and entertainment. Locals frequently congregate downtown for community activities like concerts, movies, classic car nights, and the Plainfield Fest. Due to its accessibility, Plainfield is experiencing a massive residential expansion that includes brand-new homes, luxury apartments, and multi-family dwellings. The area attracts significant internal migration due to its rich history, incredible safety, proximity to outdoor recreation at the DuPage River and Lake Renwick Heron Rookery, and historic attractions like the Flanders House and Isle a la Cache Museum.
