Romeoville is located in the state of Illinois and a village in Will County. It is situated in the southwestern part of Chicago and is a suburb of the latter. The city is home to almost 600 businesses, and it won a Gold Medal in 2013 from the International Economic Development and Council. The award was given when the city was able to open and create 1,560 jobs between 2012 to 2013. The Village of Romeoville sits on the Des Plaines River that was named after the French maple trees that are growing abundantly along its banks, which is in the southeastern corner of DuPage Township. Over the years since its founding which dates back to the middle of the 19th century, Romeo, as what the area was originally called, has grown with its bustling stone quarrying, which was able to furnish the basic materials for the early road construction and buildings.
