Columbus is located in the south-central part of the state of Louisiana and a city in Bartholomew County and sits in the East Fork White River, which is in the south of Indianapolis. The area was founded in 1821 and has served as the county seat, and was named Tiptona after General John Tipton, who gave the land to the county but was later on changed to Columbus after a month. The city has a well-diversified industrial community which is mainly surrounded by productive prairie land. It has also been known for its unique architecture, with a number of buildings that were designed by distinguished architects. Numerous buildings in the city were being financed through a fund that was established by Cummins Engine Co., which is headquartered in Columbus. The city’s manufacturing industry is mainly focused on auto parts and engines, furniture, pharmaceuticals, and plastic products.
