Located in the state of Indiana and a city that is part of Fall Creek and Delaware townships in Hamilton County, Freshers is a suburb of Indianapolis and grew rapidly over the recent decades. The first settlers started to move into the area after the statehood of Indiana and the Delaware Indians gave up its claims to the states of Ohio and Indiana. With the passing of the referendum on Fisher’s status in 2012, the town transitioned to a city in 2015. When the state of Indiana moved its capital city to Indianapolis from Croydon, the community started to prosper wherein a horse-powered grinding mill, a blacksmith shop, and the area’s first school was established that even boosted the city’s economy further. With the construction of the Peru and Indianapolis Railroad, it brought about many people in the area and it then became known as “Fisher’s Switch.”
