It is located in south-central Louisiana and the seat of the Lafayette parish on the Vermilion River and about 55 miles southwest from Baton Rouge. It has been known that and was named by MarketWatch as the happiest city in America for the reason that residents work hard, and is noticeable from their way of life, thanks to their access to great music, outstanding cuisine, and full of festivals that are held. It was thought that it originated and maybe harkened back to the residents' Cajun and Creole roots. The Creoles are the French-speaking African Americans, and the Cajun community was able to create a mixed culture that was majorly defined by the upbeat zydeco music and excellent cuisine. The city's colorful and vibrant history can be felt and experienced throughout where they are making an effort to attract more residential developments to bring to the heart of Lafayette.
