Muskegon is located in the western part of the state of Michigan and a city and seat of Muskegon County. It sits at the mouth of the Muskegon River, wherein there forms Muskegon Lake. Muskego is considered to be the largest port along the eastern side of Michigan’s eastern shore and has a vast international trading activity. The city’s name was taken from an Algonquian word that means “marshy river.” The area was laid out nearby a site that operates fur trading in 1848, it then became a major center for the sawmill center and became the shipping point for lumbers to Chicago. Muskegon was ravaged by a fire in 1890, and many of the buildings in the city were then rebuilt. When the forest was depleted by its natural resources, the city’s industry shifted to manufacture that includes automotive and turbine parts, paper, tools, chemicals, and machinery.
