It is located in the north part of Detroit, and about 16 miles from Downtown Detroit, Sterling Heights has been ranked consistently as the safest city in the state of Michigan with a population of more than 100,000. The town is a part of the Clinton River watershed, and wherein the branches are flowing through the city. It is a city in the county of Macomb and has become an integral part of Detroit's core suburb in Metro Detroit. Sterling Heights has been a popular tourist attraction in the area because of its annual events held that are being enjoyed by both the residents and visitors. The city's population has been diversified over the years. At the start of 1991, Sterling Heights started to welcome different people from different ethnic tribes that originated from eastern European countries. And that same year as well, Sterling Heights has been categorized as "blue-collar," as many of its residents have started to work in plants for automobiles powered by Ford and Chrysler.
