Apple Valley is located in the state of Minnesota and a city in the northwestern part of Dakota County and a suburb of Minneapolis-St. Paul. The area where the present-day Apple Valley was established in 1858 and known as Lebanon Township. The site remained a farming community for almost a century. In the middle of the 1950s, the residential developers started to remove and replace the farmlands. A real estate developer named Orrin Thompson was responsible for the early development of the city. It was Thompson who purchased the first houses and streets from the Brobecks - who first built the houses. The firm that took charge of the development was in Apple Valley, California. Thus he made a name for the city's development.
