Burnsville is located in the southern part of the state of Minneapolis and a city in Dakota County. It sits upstream in confluence with the Mississippi River and along the south bank of the Minnesota River. The city and its other nearby suburbs form a part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Burnsville has a number of attractions that include Burnsville Center, the regional mall. The area was originally founded and developed as an Irish farming community. At present, the city is now the ninth largest suburb within the metropolitan area and has become a bedroom community for both cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul and Burnsville was entirely built by the late 2000s. With its urban lifestyle retail and the condominiums, Burnsville’s downtown area has been referred to as the Heart of the City.
