Located in the state of Minnesota and west of downtown Minneapolis in Hennepin County. Plymouth is considered to be the third-largest suburb of the Minneapolis-St.Paul. The city was known and called Medicine Lake, however, the Hennepin County Commissioners chose the present-day name during the county’s inception. The history of the city can be traced back to the pre-Columbian period. The inhabitants of the area were the Dakota, and their encampment was at the northern end of Medicine Lake. It was the Dakota that named the lake after a warrior was able to overturn his canoe and his body was never recovered ever since.
