It is located in and the seat of Olmsted County in the state of Minnesota. Rochester is situated alongside the Zumbo River and is nestled in a valley, the city's skyline is comprised of tall buildings and is in the center wherein the farm fields are in the foreground. Native people have traversed and settled in the area that would later become Minnesota for thousands of years. The early settlers came from the Upper Mississippi cultures, and from the Northern Woodlands and from the Western Prairies. The first Europeans recorded went to the area where the present Rochester is, seeks the National Passage to the Pacific Ocean. Today, the city's economy was influenced by the region's agricultural nature. Multiple dairy producers are presently operating in the city.
