Southaven can be found in the state of Mississippi and a city in DeSoto County and is a part and a principal city in the Greater Memphis area. The area where the present-day Southaven stands began as a village when the homebuilder Kemmons Wilson who is from Memphis, started to develop a few residential subdivisions that will feature small homes that will be constructed across the Mississippi border. When Interstate 55 was built in the 1970s that helped in the development and growth of the city that will provide ease of access from the town to Memphis, Jackson, St. Louis, and Chicago. The Baptist Hospital-DeSoto opened in Southaven, a two-story hospital in 1988, it paved the way for the construction of the present-day eleven-story hospital that opened to more operating suites and space for additional rooms to accommodate more patients.
