Blue Springs is located in the state of Missouri and is a city in Jackson County that is in the eastern part of downtown Kansas City. The area where the present-day Blue Springs’ history is tied to the settlers that migrated in the area that came from the westward journey. The pioneers that settled in the area found it to be an ideal spot for stopover because of the abundance of lukewarm, clean water coming from a spring in the Little Blue River. Thus, the name Blue Springs has derived from the presence of water abundance, and the need of the settlers for supplies led to the construction of the permanent settlement and grist mill at the current site where the City’s Burrus Old Mill Park stands.
