Located in the northeastern part of the state of New Jersey and a city in Hudson County, Union City lies near the western end of the Lincoln Tunnel on the Palisades that overlooks the Hudson River and New York City. The area was settled originally by the Dutch and later by the Germans. The city was established and merged with West Hoboken and Union. The city is both industrial and residential, and has been popularly known for the manufacture of textiles, toilet preparations, paper products, and others.
