Founded in the capital city of the state of New York and also serves as the seat of Albany County. The city lies along the Hudson River and is situated north of New York City. It is in the center of the metropolitan area that includes Schenectady and Troy, Albany is a port city that serves as the terminus in the northern deepwater Hudson River Channel, and that a natural transshipment point between the different vessel that is going in and out of the New York State Canal System and routes to the Great Lakes. It is interesting to note that politics is still prevalent in Albany, with its moderate industrial development and growth. The city’s economy includes the manufacture of machine tools, industrial equipment, chemicals, electronics, and dental products. Albany was the first city to establish and develop a commercial airport.
