Located in the state of New York and a city in Westchester County, Mount Vernon lies along the Bronx and Hutchinson rivers which is just north of New York City and the Bronx. The area was settled near the religious dissenter Anne Hutchnsonin 1664, who was killed by the Indians in 1643. The area became a village farm, and house meetings, a scene of the election of Lewis Morris to the provincial assembly. Mount Vernon has seen several battles during the American Revolution. The village’s growth was then assured when the Industrial Home Association sought relief from hr high New York rents, who then purchased land for home sites. The present-day economy was diversified and industrial development included the manufacture of packaging materials. Jewelry, and automatic fire sprinklers.
