Elyria is located in the northern part of the state of Ohio, a city and seat of Lorain County that sits along the Black River that is in the western part of Cleveland and on the southern part of Lorain. The area where the present-day Elyria stands were settled by Herman Ely in 1817, who built a log house, sawmill, gristmill, and a dam. The city’s present economy is already diversified with its industrial community that manufactures various medical equipment, alloy castings, automotive, and aircraft parts, plastics, and tools, among others. Elyria is home to several caves, waterfalls, and a forest tract, which adds the view of Cascade and Elywod parks.
