Midwest City is located in the central part of the state of Oklahoma and a city in Oklahoma County and is in the eastern residential suburb part of Oklahoma City. The area where the present-day Midwest City was founded after the establishment of the Midwest Air Depot in 1942 and the Oklahoma City Air Logistics built its headquarters in the city, which then adjoined the city on the southern part. The city was used as a model city wherein the curvilinear street design as well as the spacious parks that were developed by W.P., Atkinson, who was a builder, developer, and politician. The area that was developed by Atkinson was the future location of Midwest City after the airfield that was established nearby.
