Brentwood is located in the central part of Tennessee and a suburb of Nashville in Williamson County. There were successive cultures of prehistoric Native Americans that inhabited the area for thousands of years. The Mississippian culture people or the Mound Indians or Stone Box Indians built complex earthwork mounds that are being topped with ceremonial buildings were built in the first millennium of the Common era. The settlement of the tribes was part of a culture that has extended all throughout the Mississippi Valley and its major tributaries and has as well traded with other groups that are found across the continent. There are numbers of artifacts that were unearthed of the Mississippian culture during the Meadowlake development, and at the site of the library along Concord Road.
