Located and the seat of Taylor and Jones counties in Texas, it is the Abilene Metropolitan Statistical Area's principal city. When the town was founded in 1881, and the new railhead for the overland cattle drives in Texas took the business out. Abilene's economy was primarily based on agriculture and livestock rearing, which then started to expand to industry. Over the years, natural gas and petroleum were later produced in the multicountry region wherein Abilene was then the center. Abilene's economy then grew to include aerospace structures, light machinery, and band instruments. Residents as well as visitors can immerse themselves in the tall tales and the mysteries of the Wild West and can then be able to discover the characters from the bedtime stories, and classic tales come to life. The West Texas atmosphere has embodied the frontier of the city.
