Burleson is located in the state of Texas and a city in Johnson and Tarrant counties. Katy or the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad has extended its railroad service from Denison going to Waco. A segment from Fort Waco to Alvarado was then laid out, and a depot was then needed for such in 1880. The land was then purchased for the needed depot and the town that surrounds it at the site of what is presently known as Old Town Burleson. As part of the purchase agreement, the town’s name was later on changed to Burleson. The first post office opened in the area, which is inside a retail establishment, which has been a common arrangement for small towns during that time. The town was then devastated by fire in 1895 that burned down the majority of the business district. At present, Burleson can be classified as a bustling rural town with farmlands surrounding it.
