College Station is in the southeastern part of the state of Texas and a city that is within Brazos County. The town is geographically adjacent to Brian and is in the northwest of the city of Houston. College Station is mostly and is primarily residential with an economy that is geared towards the university, Texas A&M University, although its high-technology industry and has eventually grown to be an essential part of the economy since the 1980s. The college is situated on the Houston and Texas Central Railroad, which is now known as the Southern Pacific, and was also known as the "flag station." When the post offices were first established in the local area in 1877, the words college and station were then combined to form the present-day town, College Station.
