It is located almost entirely within the northeast of Dallas, with only a small portion in Collin and Rockwall counties. The city’s economy is mostly industrialized but is also supplemented by farm crops and other farm by-products, which are primarily from the Blacklands Belt. Garland is home to various manufacturers of chemicals, electronic equipment, and scientific instruments, as well as a manufacturer of a famous brand of cowboy hats. The city was considered to be a suburb of Dallas. Thus much of the activities are mostly found around Dallas. Driving to Dallas to go to a club for some real action is considered by the locals as a feature. Garland is a culturally diverse city that offers a number of options that are rich in history, natural resources, urban charisma, and pure Texas appeal.
