McKinney is the county seat and is located in Collin County in the state of Texas. After the city of Plano, the city is the county’s second-largest county. Situated about 32 miles from north of Dallas, it has become part and exurb of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The city has over 125 years of history and has mainly served as Collin County’s prime commercial center. McKinney has provided its resident’s farmers with corn, cotton mills, flour, and other products that are produced from cotton. The city’s economy came to lie in the textile mill, an ice company, and a garment manufacturing company that has made McKinney their home. Since the town is part of the Texas Blackland prairies, the summer gets hot because it is in the Sun Belt.
