Enacted by legislative action as the "Rodeo Capital of Texas," Mesquite is a suburban city located in the eastern side of the state of Texas, wherein most of its area is located in Dallas. Historically, Mesquite has initially been developed to be the retail, industrial, and residential center wherein a various portion of its population is employed in Dallas. It has then undergone a major rapid expansion by the second half of the 20th century when residents from nearby areas are transferring to Mesquite. The city boasts of its annual Mesquite Championship Rodeo and the annual balloon festival, which has been a growing number of tourists over the years. Going around the town, visiting Mesquite has an atmosphere of traveling back in time. With its warm and inviting homesteads that can transport visitors back more than a century before.
