Located in the west-central part of the state of Texas and the seat of Tom Green County, San Angelo is situated just southwest of Abilene. The city is dominantly a wool and mohair market wherein it holds an annual pageant every June. One of the most important economic activities of the city is livestock raising, wherein a stock show, as well as, a rodeo that is being held every year. With the help of the Goodfellow Air Base and the light-industrial development, it greatly helped diversify San Angelo’s economic structure. The city manufactures include meat and dairy, petroleum, metal, cottonseed, glass products, among many others. It also manufactures shoes, boots, and jewelry in Western-style. It serves as a medical-service center among its surrounding region.
