Everettocated in the northwestern part of the state of Washington and the seat of Snohomish County. It sits on the mouth of the Snohomish River, just across Whidbey Island in the west, and by Seattle in the north. During the city's first few years, it attracted the eastern capital and was promoted as the manufacturing center after it became the terminus for the Northern Pacific Railway. Even though the city's development has faltered, the town was able to exploit the local timber and agricultural resources. Everette was also developed as a port and was able to become a significant importance when the US Naval Everette was established. It started to employ thousands of sailors and civilians and has also become home to eight warships in the Pacific Fleet.
