Tacoma lies at the foot of Mount Rainier in the Puyallup River valley and situated on Commencement Bay, which is an inlet of Puget Sound. It is a midsized port city and the county seat of Pierce Country. In the past few years, hundreds of high-technology businesses have transferred, or as opened, or have chosen to expand in the city. The Port of Tacoma is a primary gateway for international and national trade. The city’s port alone has generated more than 28,000 jobs in Pierce County. The city has been a home and is considered to be one of the busiest ports in the United States handling containers. Other cargoes that go through the port include forest products, automobiles, and grain. With its bustling port activities, the city was able to draw skilled and unskilled workforce and has attracted new businesses.
